Impressive Architecture Project: House -=+ by Less Is More Design
French architect and photographer Julien Smith, is established in Vietnam for 7 years and run the studio “Less Is More Design”.
For today we would like to present an original project called
“House-=+” and located in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh), a crowded city in
Vietnam. Here are the details we received: An
empty land of 4m*25m in the middle of a traditional Vietnamese plot has
been chosen for him and his family to establish their own place and the
studio as well. This house is a typical case in Vietnam where sites are
narrow and long. This is an interesting “nha pho” (Vietnamese name for
small and narrow city house) reference. This design could be qualified
as a minimalist, modern tropical design while transposing the domestic
Vietnamese architecture features. Volumes, open spaces, natural light
were the first concerns. The main impressive feature of this house is
the 5 meter high folding shutters louvers. “A challenge that we have
overcome with the carpenter”. (except sanitary ware, light appliance and
chairs, almost the entire house is costume made with local
manufacturer). This unique element composes itself the entire façade and
reaches all the expected functions: design – identity – solar control –
privacy – security. Have a look at the photos and please give us your feedback in the comments section.
